IECEP-BoHoL ChapTeR

The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) – the accredited professional organization of Electronics Engineers (ECE) and Electronics Technicians (ECT) announces that its Bohol Chapter is now accepting memberships.

According to the New ECE Law (RA 9292), all practicing Electronics Engineers and Electronics Technicians must be members of IECEP through its local chapters. Membership to the organization is mandated by this
law when one is converting from the old Electronics and Communications Engineering license to the new Electronics Engineer. Membership is also necessary for those who are new Electronics Engineers and
Technicians as well as when upgrading to the new Professional Electronics Engineers license (PECE).

Electronics Technicians who are practicing their profession with a minimum of seven years may also avail of the no board examination licensing. The deadline of the application for license to PRC is on May 27, 2009.

Meanwhile, IECEP - Bohol Chapter congratulates its new members who passed the March, 2009 ECE Board Examinations namely Engr. Jorge Apolinar, Engr. Ismael Corloncito, Engr. Ian Joseph Honculada, Engr. Joseph Madera and Engr. Junefif Nuera.

The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines - Bohol Chapter (IECEP-Bohol), recently held its 4^th Inter-School Quiz Bowl last March 6, 2009, at The Atrium, BQ Mall. The quiz bowl was one of the activities held during the 5^th

Engineering Fair and Project Exhibit of Holy Name University’s College of Engineering.

Four teams participated in the quiz bowl. Two teams, designated as HNU Team A and HNU Team B, were composed of engineering students from Holy Name University. Engineering students from the University of Bohol comprised UB Team A and UB Team B, respectively.

HNU Team B, lead by Michael Jala as team leader, bagged the first place, along with its members, Margarette Nitollama and Leah Decasa, while, HNU Team A, composed of Alnick Bryan Hormiguera (Team Leader), Jovanne Amolat, and Wilmer Milloria, took the second place. UB Team A and B took the third and fourth places, respectively. Engr. Jerome Auza, manager of auza.net, served as the quiz master.

Representatives of IECEP-VRC, namely, Engr. Leopoldo Q. Din and Engr. Sheila Anora graced the competition. Engr. Din is the current Auditor of IECEP-VRC and a professor of Electronics Communications in Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT), while, Engr. Anora is a member of the Education Committee of IECEP-VRC and an instructor of the University of San Jose Recoletors (USJ-R).

The event was co-presented by TDM (Thrizhel Distributors and Marketing), the exclusive distributor of Bounty Fresh Chicken, and Beauche International Products. TDM is located in the Ambassador Arcade in Tagbilaran City. TDM is also the business partner of Nestle Food Services and Greenworld Philippines, Incorporated.

The major sponsors of the event were auza.net and Excel First Review Center.

The minor sponsors were LFH Surveying Services located in Booy District, Tagbilaran City, X-squared Online, Gerisonic Electronics and Communications, and PERC-DC Review Center .

On a side note, IECEP-Bohol congratulates Engr. Tomistocles Dela Pena Ora for earning the Professional Electronics Engineer License. Engr. Ora is an antenna specialist from Cahayag, Tubigon Bohol and is a member of the Board of Directors of IECEP-Bohol.

Visit the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Cebu Office and bring the following required documents.

• Original and photocopy of NSO Birth Certificate
• Original and photocopy of NSO Marriage Certificate (for married female)
• Copy of Transcript of Records (Original to be presented)
• Copy of College Diploma
• Duly notarized service record (for those in gov’t service))
• Duly notarized certificate of employment (Private Sector)
• Certificate of experience (PRC Form 104))
• Original NBI Clearance (Private Sector)
• Original Ombudsman Clearance (for those in gov’t service)
• Proof of Membership with IECEP (valid IECEP ID)
• Individual Certification from at least three (3) registered PECE’s)

The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. - Bohol Chapter (IECEP - Bohol)  will gather together the best ECE students in Bohol to match wits with each other in the 4th ECE Quiz Bowl on March 6, 2009, 1:00 P.M., at The Atrium, Bohol Quality Mall.

Teams from the different colleges and universities in Bohol are expected to take part in this event. Prizes will be given away to the first, second, and third placers. Non-winners will receive consolation prizes courtesy of the sponsors. Lucky spectators will also have the chance to win giveaways during the course of the quiz bowl.
